Summary

• Missouri added 4,900 jobs and the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.7 percent in January according to Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) data.

• Over the past twelve months, Missouri added 29,400 jobs and the unemployment rate fell by 0.4 percentage point from 4.1 percent.

• In January, Missouri's private sector added 4,000 jobs and over the past twelve months, it created 31,000 jobs.

• The number of unemployed Missourians rose by 971 in January, and over the past year 3,895 Missourians found jobs.

• Missouri’s labor force participation rate decreased to 63.5 percent from 63.6 percent in January.  Since last year, the labor force participation rate fell 0.6 percentage point.

• The national unemployment rate was unchanged at 4.1 percent in February.  State employment and unemployment data for February is scheduled for release on March 22, 2018.  The national employment situation report for March will be released on Friday, April 6, 2018.
